SAINT JAMES COLLEGE’S

RATES – TUITION COSTS – A SCHEDULE OF OUR FEES

The old saying “You get what you pay for” certainly applies to students working toward college degrees.  Upscale Ivy League universities charge a lot more than smaller colleges, often for the same basic education.  But, a degree from an Ivy League university can result in a better job and a higher lifetime earning potential.

Normally, lower tuitions equal lower academic standards and less actual value for our money.

Saint James College is an exception, however.  Our not-for-profit college is owned by the positive-thinking denomination, The Love Church Worldwide communion.  This helps keep our costs considerably lower than free-standing colleges and universities.

We aim to offer the Lowest Tuition of Any American College while continuing to provide a World Class Education!!

We understand that you would like to know how much certain degree studies will cost.  If you had no academic studies at all in your background, our tuitions would run quite parallel with other colleges and universities.  It is very expensive maintaining facilities (even for programs conferring online college degrees), and costs must include paying professors, grading papers, paying office staff to process records, etc.

Our charter, however, permits us to grant credit for:

a.       Your real-life professional experience

b.  and also for any previous college, Continuing Education Unit, or seminar and workshop background that you may have.

CREDIT FOR REAL LIFE EXPERIENCE:  Saint James College is permitted by our government charter to

award up to half of the required credit hours based on your real-life experience in the field of your major

CREDIT FOR ALL PREVIOUS SCHOOLING:  And, we accept all  credits that you have earned at other colleges or universities, even if your studies were in the past.  Many colleges refuse to transfer credits if they were earned more than ten years ago.  We will not require you to repeat English, math, or Introduction to Psychology 101, even though it would generate additional income for our college.  If you did the work in the past, we’ll honor your achievement!

These factors can significantly reduce the number of actual courses you may have to take at Saint James College since, unlike most other schools, we do not profit from requiring you to repeat class work you completed elsewhere.  This brings the tuition costs down, often considerably.

You are charged only for the courses you actually need to take here at Saint James College.

TUITIONS CHARGED:

ASSOCIATES DEGREES:  According to The College Board, a two-year associates degree can cost $10,458 through the community college system. (As an example, Indian River Community College in Ft. Pierce, FL, charges $3,480 for residents getting a two-year degree, and $13,140 for a two-year degree obtained by non-resident students.)   If you bring significant real-life work experience and some previous college credits to Saint James College, you may be able to obtain your associates degree here for as little at $400.  (An incoming student with no real-life work experience and no previously-earned college credits may expect the tuition to earn an associates degree here to cost about $2,000.)

BACHELOR’S DEGREES:  The College Board reports that  4-years’ tuition, books and supplies, and fees at a public university currently runs around $20,000.

The same degree at a private college can cost as much as a whopping $80,000. (As a random example, we pulled the records for South Carolina State University. They charge $24,680 for in-state students earning a 4-year degree...but they add another $20,000 for room and board! Non-South Carolina students pay $51,912 for a 4-year degree. See www.electroniccampus.org)   If you bring significant real-life work experience and some previous college credits to Saint James College, you may be able to obtain your bachelors degree here for as little as $950.  (An incoming student with no real-life work experience and no previously-earned college credits may expect the tuition to earn a bachelors degree here to cost about $12,000.)

The College Board’s calculator is at http://apps.collegeboard.com/fincalc/college_cost.jsp

MASTERS DEGREES:  A masters degree can cost about $35,000-$40,000 for the average two years of required study at a public college or university.  If you bring significant real-life work experience and some previous college credits to Saint James College, you may be able to obtain your masters degree here for at little as $2,000 - $3,000.  We simply will not charge you to re-take classes you may have completed elsewhere during your lifetime.  (An incoming student with no real-life work experience and no previously-earned college credits may expect the tuition to earn a masters degree here to cost about $15,000 - $18,000.)

DOCTORATE DEGREES:  A doctorate degree can cost about $35,000 to $50,000 at many colleges and universities.  (As an example, a Ph.D. will run you $39,000 at Southern New Hampshire University.  It’s $63,160 for Columbia University’s two-year program.)  If you bring significant real-life work experience and some previous college credits to Saint James College, you may be able to obtain your doctorate degree here for as little as $3000.  (An incoming student with no real-life work experience and but with a master degree or equivalent previously-earned college credits may expect the tuition a doctorate degree here  to cost about $15,000 - $20,000.)

We strive to offer world-class education and to consolidate previously-earned credits into one solid program so that you can earn your degree as an adult student.  Tuition costs may increase from time-to-time as economic conditions vary.  Students entering a program at a quoted rate will not be subject to any tuition increases for a period of two-years from the time of their initial registration.

NOTATION REGARDING ACCREDITATION:  This has been addressed previously on the Saint James College website but in a spirit of full disclosure, we are repeating it here.  Our college and our online distance-learning degree program is a state-registered subsidiary of the fully-chartered religious denomination, The Love Church Worldwide communion.  As such, our degrees are legitimate, valid, and are something that you can be proud of once you’ve earned one.  But, we are not yet regionally accredited.  We are too new a program.  However, we have a study committee that is currently working on accreditation issues.  It is likely that we will be accredited within two years but you should know that your degree is going to religiously-oriented (say, a Masters in Business Administration for Spiritual Institutional Management) and that it will probably not transfer to regionally accredited colleges and universities.  With a Saint James College degree, however, you can still properly sign your name Susie Jones B.A., or Ron Citizen, MBA.
