THE SCHOOL OF ARTS AND SCIENCES:
The School of Arts
and Sciences at Saint James College
offers degrees in Biology and Psychology (a marine biology component is in the
development stage). It is a teaching college where students are the priority
for faculty and academic excellence is provided by well-qualified and skilled
faculty. We at Saint James College
prepare students for their chosen vocations, develop
an appreciation for nature and God’s wondrous work. The diverse background of
the faculty enables us to direct student study in specific areas and also
present sciences as integrated fields of study.
ABOUT the SCIENCE FACULTY:
Doctorate-
level teaching in the following programs and majors: General Science,
Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Religious, Philosophical, and Political
Implications of Genetic Engineering, Stem Cell Research. We also offer studies
and research in end-of-life and supernatural issues such as Death and Dying,
Angels and Prophecy, as well as learning opportunities in our Hospice and
Chaplaincy programs.
Saint James
College offers science courses in the
following majors: nursing, pre-med, and general research students in the
currently critical area of viral pandemics, such as the possibly-looming Bird
Flu epidemic (The CDC indicates that the Bird Flu may prove fatal to as many as
one-third of all persons who get the disease. Saint James College is proud to have an expert in the RNA
aspects of this viral strain as it mutates repeatedly and spreads from birds
into the mammalian population.)
Professor-level
backgrounds include:
A wide range of professional, business, research, and academic
experience, including instructor and professor-level positions at such
prestigious institutions as Cornell University, Seton
Hall University,
and St. John’s University,
as well as professional positions and fellowships at The National Disease
Research Institute and Rockefeller
University.
Professor
memberships include the American Society of Microbiology, the American
Association for the Advancement of Science, and the American Society of
Endocrinology, with presentations and publications including a wide variety of
articles in peer-reviewed journals in such diverse areas as microbiology,
industrial hygiene, bioremediation, indoor air quality, viral contaminants,
plasmid DNA characterization, and motivating students in the Sciences.
