SEBORRHEA / SEBORRHEIC DERMATITIS INFORMATION:

Seborrhea :

Seborrhea is one of the most common skin disorders around and is
normally considered a cosmetic problem. Seborrhea often appears
in areas where there are a large number of "sebaceous" or oil glands,
such as the scalp. Seborrhea is generally not related to an individual's
age. It is easily treated, but the symptoms often reappear.

Seborrheic Dermatitis:

Often, cases of Seborrhea develop into Seborrheic Dermatitis.
Millions of people in the United States suffer with Seborrhea and
Seborrheic Dermatitis. Unlike Seborrhea, where the symptoms are
limited to excessively oily conditions of the skin, Seborrheic Dermatitis
is accompanied by irritation and redness with severe scaling. Seborrheic
Dermatitis often appears in areas around the nose, eyebrows, eyelids
and the scalp, behind the ears and chest. Some people also develop in
areas like groins, buttocks, arms and breasts.

What Causes Seborrhea/Seborrheic Dermatitis ?

Seborrheic Dermatitis usually happens in people with oily hair or skin.
Research also shows that it could be caused by a superficial skin infection.
When Seborrheic Dermatitis appears in young children it is called "Cradle
Cap" and could be related to the hormones transferred from the mother to
the baby before birth. In this case, it usually disappears without treatment.
Seborrheic Dermatitis can occur on adults affected with other health
problems, like deficiency of the Immune System, Nervous System,
Psoriasis, Acne, people going through major surgeries, or long periods
of the time in the hospital. On the other hand, people suffering with
Seborrheic Dermatitis not necessarily will suffer from other kinds of
skin problems.

How Can You Tell If you Have Seborrhea, or Seborrheic Dermatitis ?

The symptoms described above on the mentioned areas, are easy to identify
and most patients don't require allergy, blood, or urine tests. If it is a severe
case and the symptoms are not reducing with the treatment, laboratory tests
may be done to make sure is not another form of skin disorder.

What Can you do avoid Seborrhea or Seborrheic Dermatitis?

While Seborrhea or Seborrheic Dermatitis may be effectively treated, there
is no absolute cure or regimen that eliminates reoccurrence of these
conditions. In order to prevent infection or complications, individuals
suffering from Seborrhea or Seborrheic Dermatitis should avoid
scratching the affected areas.

Traditional treatments include Cortisone creams or lotions, but long term
use of strong preparations can cause side effects. For scalp treatment, there
are non prescription shampoos made with Tar, Salicylic Acid, Selenium, or
Sulfur. Although these shampoos alone may temporarily relieve symptoms
of Seborrhea or Seborrheic Dermatitis, reoccurrence is common and frequent.

Zinc Pyrithione:

Zinc Pyrithione was discovered years ago by British and Spanish scientists
and is considered in Europe one of the most effective treatments against
Seborrhea and Seborrheic Dermatitis. A whole line of Zinc Pyrithione
Products including Spray (With Scalp Applicator, Shampoo, Cream and
Bars of Soap is now being produced in the U.S., under the name DERMAZINC

The reason for the success of this products against Seborrhea, Seborrheic
Dermatitis and other skin problems is that, besides the breakthrough discovery
of the Zinc Pyrithione, the main treatment is done with a liquid formula (Spray).
This liquid formula penetrates the skin deeper and faster and the results also
come faster, lasting much longer. Dermazinc Shampoo should be used in
combination with the Spray, to help on the fight against the Seborrhea and
Seborrheic Dermatitis on the scalp, speeding the healing process.

The Spray should be applied with the scalp applicator, twice a day on a
clean (No other medications) and dry scalp, until the scalp is clear from the
symptoms. While treating the scalp with Dermazinc Spray, the Shampoo
should be used every other day. Once the Seborrhea or Seborrheic Dermatitis
is under control, you can use the Shampoo alone to maintain the results. For
the Seborrhea and Seborrheic Dermatitis on the body, the Spray is also
the main treatment
and should also be used twice a day everyday, until the
skin is back to normal. After that, it should be used if necessary to maintain
the results. If you have Seborrhea or Seborrheic Dermatitis on your face,
you will have to spray it on a cotton ball and then apply it on your face.
After the skin comes back to its natural condition, you can maintain the
results on your face or your body with the cream. The Soap also contains
Zinc Pyrithione and can be used in combination with the other products,
to reduce the oiliness and moisturize the skin.
