A Living Peace
A PRACTICAL SEMINAR FOR LIFE
PRESENTED BY PAX CHRISTI ATLANTA
In this hectic and hostile world, Peace is something that is highly prized and sought after by people of all ages. People seek it through many means, most of them unsuccessful. Pax Christi is offering a three-part seminar on making a success of creating not just a temporary peace but a thriving, Living Peace in your life. These stimulating and thought provoking seminars will impact your own daily life and that of your family.
The Living Peace seminars will help you to look at all facets of your life to discover where you can replace the troublesome, heart-wrenching hot-button issues with a balanced view and practical means of achieving the Living Peace that Christ showed us.
PART 1
We will open our sessions by speaking directly to the Christian heart. We
will look at the person of Jesus and what biblical scholar Father John McKenzie called "the
clearest of Jesus' teachings." This session will provide a solid
foundation for the rest of the series, based on the biblical guidelines for
a Living Peace.
PART 2
In this session, we will look at self-interest and how we are influenced by
our culture. The contrast between Rational Ethics and Resurrection Ethics
will reveal the motivations behind a Living Peace. We will look at the
practices in early Church history and the changes that took place during
the 4th Century which led to the justification for violence. We will
explore the practicality of living a non-violent life based on Christian
principles.
PART 3
In our final session, we will lean upon the Christian foundations for a
Living Peace that were built in the previous sessions. With that as our
guide, we will consider the issues of abortion, war, euthanasia and the
death penalty from the perspectives of the Church's teachings, including the
Catechism, encyclicals and pastoral letters. We will look at the lives of
the many who have created and maintained a Living Peace in their lives.
This will lead us to the way this Living Peace is achievable in our own
lives.
We will be delighted to offer this seminar series--as well as other presentations on nonviolence and social justice--to your parish or group without charge. Please contact us at paxatlanta@mindspring.com or phone 404.231.1750.
