Topic: Nicolet Male Chorus Cabaret 2007
Comments: Sporting uniform updates and many new songs, The Nicolet Male Chorus is preparing for Cabaret 2007 on Friday March 2 and Saturday March 3 at Holiday Acres Resort in Rhinlander, WI. The theme for this year's dinner concert is "Moments to Remember". Director Jim St. Charles has arranged some of the great hits for the chorus including a new setting for the show's theme, "Moments to Remember".
The Nicolet Male Chorus will also present "Moments To Remember" Cabaret dinner presentation on Saturday March 10 at the Reiter Center in Three Lakes. This will be the second year the group has moved out of the Rhinelander Area to reach for new audiences in The Nicolet District.
Sponsored by Nicolet College, The Nicolet Male Chorus performs in area churches in the Nicolet District as well as it's annual Christmas Concert at the college with the Nicolet Choraliers. In May the NMC will head for Marquette, MI to participate in the Wisconsin Upper Michigan Big Sing with choruses from the two states.
Formed in 1945, the NMC has changed with the times while moving from tuxedo outfits in the 40's and 50's to today's more casual outfits of blazers and slacks. The men can also be counted on to go 'a little crazy' in Act II of Cabaret with off the wall costumes and songs equally strange!
Accompanist Bea Kerner is a well-known Northwoods pianist, piano teacher and director of her own gospel group, "Hymns and Hers". She is also accompanist for the college's companion female chorus, The Nicolet Choraliers.
Rehearsals are every Monday evening at 6:30PM at James Williams Junior High in Rhinlander, WI. New members are always welcomed.
