Auctions on the Web

Auction Sites on the Web
These are fun and one can pick up some wonderful bargains - computers and other items!
Just playing the game can be fun!

Check this recent article at c|net.com - Auction Sites Explained

Prepare with some KNOWLEDGE
Starting Point to make yourself aware of prices (computers) before going into an auction!

  1. Deal-Mac is updated daily and has excellent references to computer/peripheral specials that are currently running! (The forums are a super place to see what problems/solutions other Mac users have encountered.)
  2. Deal-iMac is focused specifically on the new iMac!

  3. EveryMac does just as it says - it has a data base of every Macintosh and clone that has been made with all technical specs and a selling price range. Check here to see how much to bid on items and to compare different computers.

  4. If you are considering a used (or refurbished) Mac computer, I recommend to look at the information on the Low End Macs web site for valuable insight, facts, and recommendations. Mac computers are listed individually, the history of Mac computer is there (remember Lisa), and there are some articles with opinions on upgrades of your Mac. (Also some FAQ - what else!!)

  5. Get the Apple Computer Facts

Have some fun (get some good deals) with your KNOWLEDGE!

"My Favorites"
  1. Onsale Auctions is a place to purchase many items. I have purchased golf items in addition to computer items here!
  2. Ebay Auctions is a facilitator between seller and buyers. The site is alot of fun and you can sell your own equipment as well as purchase equipment that others no longer use. This is one of my favorite sites for auctions. For computers, I keep one window of my browser open to the "EveryMac" web site and one window open to the "Ebay" site and check prices and the computer information on the "EveryMac" site. Some nice bargains!!
  3. Haggle is a site similar to ebay (above). Some different items appear here. Check it out!!! (29 Sep 98)
  4. Yahoo , in partnership with ONSALE, has set up a "person-to-person" auction site also. Everybody is getting in on this! (14 Sep 98)

  5. Mac Warehouse Auctions - an auction site for various items. Be careful not to overbid here. There are many "new" items" offer at auctions. Make sure you know the legitimate selling price!
  6. Mac Mall Auctions MacMall also has an auction site. The Mac items are scarce (in fact, I can't find any - It looks like another Mac site has gone the way of the masses - to the PC) but most of the items are new. Again, make sure you know the legitimate selling price before bidding too high!

Check these out!

  • Top Ten Auction Web Sites - If you don't like my choices (above), see what some consider to be the "top ten" auction sites for computers!

  • EMarketLive - Interesting site with a current ticker tape (if your browser support it) that tells current prices. An auction of sorts because one may purchase (each item is in larger quantity) when the "price is right" for you! Check it out if you are interested in some computer items! (16 Sep 98)
