| Joel, originally from Wyoming, started playing the drums at the age of 8. He did not receive any professional training until the age of 20, when he enrolled in the Berkeley School of Music. Before Yanni, he had been doing work for commercials --- including a "Coke" ad --- and a few movies. Joel has toured with Dr. L. Subramaniam as well as quite a few other jazz musicians. The "Tribute" tour was Joel's first with Yanni --- he is the third drummer Yanni has had since Charlie Adams left. "I play for the music. I try to be really accurate; Yanni likes that." |
