David's life reflects his love and belief in Aboriginal culture. He comes from the Ewamin (oo-rah-min) / Western Yalangi (people of the north east coast of Australia), and currently resides in Cairns, in the midst of the beautiful reefs and rainforests. From a very young age he was taught traditional Aboriginal culture, history, beliefs, language, music, and art, including how all of these interact and integrate with each other to create a cohesive whole. David is a world renowned didgeridoo player and manufacturer, proponent of Aboriginal traditional culture, and multifaceted entertainer and artist (including dance, music, painting, and acting). His work is considered "contemporary", and yet has a very definite traditional influence. He is a well known presenter of documentaries, offering advanced knowledge in many areas relating to Aboriginal culture. David holds the position of "Honorary Tourism Ambassador" for the Queensland Tourism Industry. He has traveled extensively throughout Australia and the world, including Europe, Asia and the USA with the world renowned dance troupe, "Tjapukai", which he co-founded. David was with Yanni on the Tribute tour, and is glad to be able to once again educate music lovers through the haunting notes of the didgeridoo. |
