SOPHEA
BACKIL WHARTON, 86, went to be with The Lord on September 3,
2007. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Sophea was
co-founder of Dewey's Amusement Co. and later worked with her
daughter at DewAnn Cotten Dance Academy for 30 years where she
loved being with the children and seeing them dance! Sophea
lives on in the hearts of her daughter, DewAnn Cotten;
granddaughter, Marla Cotten; niece Janice Grabanski and husband
Paul; nephews Fritz Kloppe and wife Davie and Rodger Kloppe and
wife Doreen, many great nieces, nephews, friends and her
precious pets Olivia and Gracie. Friends are cordially invited
to a visitation with the family from six o'clock until eight
o'clock in the evening on Thursday, September 6, 2007 in the
Library of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in
Houston. Funeral services will be held at two o'clock in the
afternoon on Friday, the 7th of September in the Hankamer Chapel
of Second Baptist Church, 6400 Woodway Drive in Houston.
Interment will follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
