MARION SCHRODER BRIGGS, 96,
beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, joined her Lord on June
11, 2003. She was born in Jamaica, New York on May 29, 1907. Her family
moved to Houston in 1914. Marion worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone
from 1926-1944, She was a member of Park Place Lutheran Church for 57
years. She taught first grade Sunday School for 16 years and was active in
Vacation Bible School and the women's programs. She was preceded in death
by her husband of 34 years, William G. Briggs, Jr., her parents August
William and Helen Tewes Schroder, two brothers Arthur H. and August W.
Schroder, three sisters, twin sister Dorothea Funderburk, Helen Bortz and
Alice Burkhart. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jane Briggs
Wise and Jim Price Wise, grandson Judge Ken Wise and wife Nikki Cochran
Wise, granddaughter Tiffany Wise Trulove, husband William G. Trulove and
great grandson William James Trulove, her sister Emma Kokemoor, numerous nieces,
nephews and great nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to visitation
with the family from 6pm to 8pm Friday, June 13, 2003, at Crespo Funeral
Home, 4136 Broadway, Houston, Texas. Graveside services will be held at
SouthPark Cemetery, 1310 South Main Street (Hwy 35) Pearland, Texas 77581,
on Saturday, June 14, 2003 at 11:30am. A service celebrating her life will
be held Saturday, June 14, 2003 at 1:00pm in the chapel at Holly Hall
Retirement Community, 8304 Knight Rd., Houston, Texas 77054, Dr. Scott
Endress officiating. Pallbearers are Judge Ken Wise, William G. Trulove,
William E. Gay, Awald Bortz, Jr., Keith Gay, and Gene Schroder. Honorary
Pallbearers are Richard Kokemoor, William James Trulove, and Michael A.
Schroder. The family wishes to thank the caring staff of Holly Hall
Retirement Community where Marion enjoyed living for over 14 years. Special
thanks to the nursing staff and caregivers for the past two years in the
Turner Health Center. You added life to her years. An additional thank you
to the loving hospice care of Odyssey Healthcare. For those desiring,
