……………..I'll add a more serious thought... Some of you will remember my dad, Emmett Hendrick. He passed away last Wednesday here in Conroe at the age of 89. We had a wonderful celebration of his life and memory on Friday afternoon in Palestine. My parents moved here from Palestine about a year ago.... Daddy was retired from the Missouri Pacific Railroad and during his memorial service, trains seemed to run continuously on the tracks near the funeral home... In most instances, it would have been a distraction, but everyone agreed that the sound of the whistles were a fitting tribute to his 37 years of service.
