WAYLAND ELMORE, SR., 91, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2002. Mr. Elmore
was born in Haynesville, LA to Rufus and Jerusha Elmore. Wayland received
his Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Texas, then obtained his
Master of Divinity from the Perkins School of Theology at Southern
Methodist University. For more than 60 years, Mr. Elmore was a minister and
member of the Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church. His latest
active ministry was as an Associate with Westbury United Methodist Church.
Mr. Elmore was preceded in death by his wife, Erna Mae Elmore. He is
survived by his children; Jerilyn Falconer and her husband Jim, Joe Elmore,
and Gene Elmore, Jr. & his wife Claire; grandchildren, Trey and Bill
Falconer and John, Justin and Jennifer Elmore; sister, Hazel Jackson. Three
great grandchildren also survive Wayland. A memorial service will be held
at 2:30 PM, Sunday, July 28, 2002 in The Chapel of Clarewood House, 7400
Clarewood, Houston, Texas, 77036. Memorial contributions may be made to the
charity of choice.
