Haney, Clara Hubert
CLARA HUBERT HANEY, 66, of Texas City passed away Friday, December 5, 2008, at Mainland Center Hospital in Texas City after a 19 year battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at the Emken-Linton Funeral Home. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at South Park Cemetery in Pearland. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, December 8, 2008 at the funeral home. Mrs. Haney was born April 7, 1942 in Houston, Texas, to Helen and George A. Hubert. She graduated with a Master Degree in Behavioral Science from the University of Houston. She loved Opera, Classical music and singing in the church choirs. She sang in the Gilbert and Sullivan Society. She was a Girl Scout leader and the Boy Scout and Girl Scout County Advisory Boards. She was a member of the Dickinson School District in special education, served ten years as a lay member of the State Medical Review Board and a State Certified Appraiser. Clara along with her husband owned Haney and Associates Appraisers which began in 1969. Clara loved her camera and became the self appointed family historian, and family photographs became annual calendars. She is preceded in death by her parents, a sister Barbara Hazelip and her son, Henry Lee Haney, Jr. Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Henry Lee Haney, Sr.; her daughter, Holly La Roe and husband, Russell; her grandchildren, Hunter Hamilton, Wendell Hamilton, Erin Haney, Jordon Block, Scott La Roe and Amy La Roe; her brothers, George Hubert III, Bill Hubert and wife Mary, her sister, Helen Lutz; a brother-in-law Danny Haney and wife, Pam; daughter-in-law Andrea Haney and numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. The family wishes to express a special thanks to her doctors Suzanne McClure and Daniel Piazza and the nurses that cared for her.
