MRS. CHARLES (CHRISTINE)
LADNER, 87, died Thursday, July 22, 2004, at The Methodist Hospital In
Houston. She was born Eddie Christine Hall in Remig on July 31, 1916. She was
the second child of Edgar Hall and Roba (Christian) Hall. She attended San
Jacinto High School and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the Rice Institute in
1936. She married Charles Edwin Ladner of Houston on April 20, 1939, and they
made their home in Houston. She earned a Master's degree in English from the
University of Houston in 1965. She worked for the Medical Library in the
medical center from 1965 until her retirement in 1980. After retirement she
served as librarian at the First Baptist Church and volunteered there extensively
after retiring from that position. She is survived by her husband Charles of
Houston; two daughters Judith Christine Roberts and husband Wayne of Greeley,
Colorado, and Barbara Evelyn Ladner and husband David Castleberry of
Huntington, West Virginia; and one son Robert Charles Ladner and wife Jane of
Ijamsville, Maryland. She also leaves seven grandchildren and one
great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters
Margaret Mary (Peggy) Hall Miller and Dorothy Dell (Hall) Smart and her
husband George Smart. Friends are invited to visitation with the family from
6 until 8 o'clock in the evening on Monday, July 26, 2004 at Geo. H. Lewis
& Sons, 1010 Bering Drive. Funeral services will be held at 11 o'clock in
the morning on Tuesday, July 27, 2004 at the First Baptist Church, 7401 Katy
Freeway with Gerald Ray officiating. Interment will follow at South Park
Cemetery in Pearland, Texas later that afternoon. |
