Charles Edwin Ladner
CHARLES EDWIN LADNER, 89, died Saturday, August 14, 2004, at The Methodist Hospital in Houston. He was born in Eagle Pass, Texas on June 7, 1915. He was the second child of Nicholas Henry Ladner and Mary Sedonia (Davidson) Ladner. His family lived in Eagle Pass while he was a young child, moving to Beaumont until he was in junior high, and then residing in Houston. Mr. Ladner attended Sam Houston High School and graduated from Rice Institute with a BA in Chemistry in 1936 and a BS in Chemical Engineering in 1937. He met Christine Hall of Houston while both were students at Rice. They married on April 20, 1939. He worked for the Hughes Tool Company in the 1940's, the Edward E. Hall Lumber Company in the 1950's and 60' and then returned to the Hughes Tool Company in the 1970's until his retirement in 1983. He was active in the First Baptist Church of Houston, serving as a Deacon for many years. He also helped in the media center. He is survived by two daughters, Judith Christine Roberts and husband Wayne of Greeley, Colorado and Barbara Evelyn Ladner and husband David Castleberry of Huntington, West Virginia; and one son Robert Charles Ladner and wife Jane of Ijamesville, Maryland. He also leaves seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Christine Hall Ladner and one brother Andrew Walter Ladner. His funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 19, 2004, at 11 o'clock in the morning, at the First Baptist Church of Houston, 7401 Katy Freeway with Rev. Gerald Ray officiating. Burial will be at SouthPark Cemetery in Pearland later that afternoon.
