Peggy Wood Kelly biography

Geez, I thought I would either be dead or in jail by now...Who woulda
thunk it!  High school was the jumping off place to the start of LIFE.  I
was one of those "mid-termers" who stayed over a semester and graduated in
June, like all the "normal" people were supposed to do.  I had my plans
all mapped out and went to a small Junior College in East Texas, Lon
Morris, Jacksonville, Texas.  I majored in "Drama" and graduated in 1964,
with an Associates Degree.  I went to the University of Texas for a
semester and then I decided to try the work scene and floated around in
various and asundrie jobs, insurance, diamond shipper, construction
company, etc.  A real "jane" of all trades.  I met my future husband on a
temporary job and within a year we were married.  That was 1968.  Nine
months and five minutes later I was blessed with a beautiful daughter,
Katherine.  I stayed home and did the "mommy" thing.  In 1973 we were the
proud parents of a beautiful baby boy, Kenneth.  In 1978, during the "oil
bust" I had to try to support the family when my husband was laid off. I
feel lucky that I was able to stay at home until the kids were able to
take care of themselves basically before I started working for doctors: a
dentist and then an orthopedic group, followed by two gastroenterologists.
I have been working for the last gastroenterologist for ten years now and
hope that he will last long enough so that we both can retire at the same
time.
My daughter is a computer tech employed by Texas A&M. Both she and her
husband work for A&M.  She raises Love Birds and Cockatoos.  She and her
husband are participants in the Renaissance Festival.  She does weaving
and calligraphy, he does medieval sword fighting.
My son is a network administrator and has his own Corvette Club. He loves
to work on them and fix them up (he has two, already).  He only graduated
from high school, but his knowledge of computers has enabled him to move
up in the industry, higher than some of his peers who went to college.
Neither one of our kids has given us any grandchildren.  But we do have
grandkitties and grandbirds.  Maybe, there will be some in the future, who
knows?
Now is the "dessert" years of our lives.  My husband is gray around the
ears and we are both old and fat.  We still have our sense of humor and
some of our wits left.  Some of the body parts don't work like they used
to, but we are still able to sit up and take nourishment. I'm still only
18, but I have forty years experience, now.
I hope more and more of the class of 1962 will be able to attend this
year's reunion.  It is fascinating, the stories there are.  I just love
hearing about all of them.  See you there!  God Bless.
