Hey Rob, thanks for the email. I do not know if you
remember me, I was not a "social butterfly" in high school. I was a "jock"
(loved to play softball and run track), and a "nerd" (member of the
National Honor Society and the Spanish National Honor Society). I
almost hate to say it, but the only friends I had during most of my early life
(and even now) were my sisters and brothers, who are all older than
I. My maiden name was Womack.
I did send my biography to the reunion committee a few years
ago, but I never saw it posted. I am currently retired from three
professions: health care (RN from 1967 to 1977); geology (MS in Geology, U of H,
worked from 1980 to 1986); and environmental science (MS in Environmental
Science, U of T). My last position was as a Senior Environmental Engineer with a
major petrochemical company for 15 years. I did consulting work as an
Environmental Scientist after my retirement in 2003; however, I am now fully
retired, and looking for volunteer work to do.
My hobbies have always been something to do outdoors,
including saltwater fishing, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, mountain climbing, and
now, birdwatching. I have done extensive volunteer work with various state
parks, including leading birding hikes, and other nature-related
activities. Now, I am looking forward to being a volunteer ombudsman for
the aged in nursing homes, as administered by the Texas Agency for the
Aging.
I have recently remarried, after 18 years of singlehood,
to a wonderful man, Ellis Pellerin; I have two grown children (both girls),
three grandchildren, and seven step-grandchildren. My youngest
daughter was seriously injured in an automobile accident last year, and I moved
in with her to take care of her and her two children (her husband had left her
and moved out of state); I learned so much about love from the experience.
She has fully recovered, and after six months, is now back at work,
and able to take care of herself and her children.
My husband will retire in 3 years, then we plan to
build our retirement home on 35 acres of land in the San Juan Mountains
of Southern Colorado (with a river running through it).
I have had a great life, not always what I thought it would
be, but a great one, nonetheless.
