Lynn Moore’s  Biography

Upon graduation, I enrolled in the Corps of Cadets @ Texas A&M University (my blood always bled maroon)!!!  After two years and not really knowing what I wanted to major in, I dropped out of school and joined the Navy.

I ended up serving in the U.S. Submarine Service (can you believe 6’4” and on a submarine).  I served four years in the navigational department on the USS Chivo (SS-341) stationed in Charleston, South Carolina.

While at A&M, I met young lady (Bonnie Hinton) also a graduate of Jones (Class of 64).

Bonnie and I met on a blind date and we married in August of 67’.  In December of 69’, I received an early out form the Navy and returned to A&M.  I graduated in May 72’ with a BS degree in Biology.

For the past 28 years, I have worked in the safety, health, and environmental fields in the following areas: chemical manufacturing, oil & gas, construction and maintenance.  At the present time I work for Zachry Construction Corp. at the Rohm & Haas chemical plant in Deer Park, Texas as the site Safety and Health Manager.

Bonnie and I will soon celebrate 35 years of marriage and we have been blessed with two beautiful children.  Brandt is 31 years old and Christa is 28.  Both kids followed their dad’s footsteps and attended A&M.  Brandt attended A&M on an Army scholarship and was also in the Aggie Band.  He graduated in 1994 with a BS degree in Genetics and served four years in the Army.  He decided not to make a career in the Army.  At the present time he has a very interesting job.  He works for the Harris County Medical Examiner in their Crime Lab as a DNA Analyst.  He works strictly with all the county murder and rape cases and analyzes all the DNA evidence.  He is also working on his Masters degree in Molecular Biology @ the U of H Clear Lake campus. His goal is to some day work in the Genetic Counseling field. He and his new bride (Jennifer) have built a new home in the League City area.  My daughter Christa graduated from A&M in 1996 with a BA degree in English and minored in French.  She taught high school English for 3 years and then went to work for the Young Life Organization in 1999.  Young Life is a world wide Christian organization that works with high school kids.  Christa works out the Houston Bay Area office and is area director for Clear Lake High School.  In her spare time she teaches dance and has a weekly Bible study class for 75 high school young people.

In my spare time I officiate high school football.  I belong to the Houston Chapter of Football Officials and this fall will be my 25th year of officiating.  As long as my legs hold out, I will officiate.  I really like working with the young men on the football field and it also keeps me in shape.  No matter what kind of stressful activities you have had all week, you can go out on Friday night and put on those zebra stripes and have fun working a football game.

I guess I have talked enough!!  Bonnie and I are still living in the first home we built in the Friendswood  area.  We built this home in 1974.  Its hard to believe how time flies by.  I am looking forward to the 40th reunion and seeing all my classmates from the past.
