John Blair....Biography
To recap the last 40 years in
a few sentences takes a little discipline. Rather than the usual
"resume", I would rather tell you of life's lessons I have
learned; followed by the nuts and bolts.
These are my own experiences and
observations; not borrowed from some book.
Lessons learned......
- Jalapenos stuffed with
peanut butter stick to, and burn the roof of your mouth....
- Divorce is not a disease,
but an error in judgement....
- Life is a series of random
happening that can sometimes happen all at once....
- It is not what you make of
your life, but what you make for the lives of others....
- Love is when you care more
about another person than you care about yourself....
- Friends remembered
frequently.... frequently will remember you....
- If you take
"all" the "right" forks on the road of life, you will go in
circles....
- Successful planning is
figuring what not to do, and then not do it....
- It is ok to cry....
- Snowflakes soften the
World's hard edges and make everything beautiful....
- Enjoy life, go fly
fishing!
Now, the usual stuff.......
I received my bachelor and masters
degrees from Texas Tech; worked 3 years in Austin for the Texas Parks &
Wildlife Department and then left Texas in 1971 for a brief job in Chicago,
landing in Washington, D.C. I have lived near and have worked in Washington,
D.C. since 1972. I am in the electric utility business, licensing hydroelectric
projects throughout the country. Included in the move was a failed
marriage.
Rosanna and I celebrated our 20th
wedding anniversary 2 years ago by returning to Northern Italy where she
was born. My step-daughter, Kris, is 34 and my "step-grandkids"
Jordan and Michael are 10 and 12. As I re-read that last sentence, life is
full of a lot of "steps" after you graduate from high school.
In addition to my "regular
job", I have a successful fly fishing school in Fairfax, Virginia. Yes,
you read that right....John Blair's Anglers Academy....teaching people the
sport of fly fishing for the past 14 years. I have met thousands of nice
people....even caught a fish now and then.
If you have read this far, then I wish you and all of the
classmates of the class of 1962 the very best; and may my name appear well
before yours on the "deceased" page.
