Dorothy A. Braunagel Brown biography

The last 40 years after graduation have been fun and interesting.  I have met and made many friends in the different places that we have lived throughout the USA and Puerto Rico.

I met and married Henry Brown in San Jose, CA. on August 22, 1964.  We were working at the same movie theatre.   We had 3 children Linda, Kevin, and Dean.  Linda has 3 children Austin, Kasandra, and Anthony.  They are living in Tomball, TX.   Kevin died 2 days old because of a heart defect.    Dean is not married and was in the Air Force and is now living in Phoenix, AZ.

Henry spent 18 years in the Navy and we have lived in many different places.   We lived in San Jose, CA. while he was in Vietnam.    Then we moved to San Francisco, CA.  while he went to school.   Next stop was San Diego, Ca. for awhile.   We went to Norfolk, VA while he was on a ship and went to sea for 6 months and came back and then out again.  We moved to Rhode Island and lived at the Otis Air Force Base on Cape Cod, Ma.   We went back to Norfolk, VA   for 2 years.  Then we went to Puerto Rico for 3 years.   It was a beautiful place to live and we enjoyed it so very much.  When he got out of the Navy we moved to Longview, TX.  Then we moved to Houston and lived in Cypress for 7 years.   Linda and D.J. went to school in Cypress and graduated from Cy-Fair High.  After Henry lost his job there it was off to San Francisco, CA for 9 years.  Then our next move was to Boston, Ma for 5 years.  We lived in Salem, Ma the witch city.  It was a great town and I loved Halloween because they always had a big party downtown on Halloween night.  At the present time we are living in Huntsville, Al.

Dorothy has spent her time working various jobs.   I’ve worked as a cashier in the movie theatre in San Jose, CA.  I worked as a maid in the Sheraton Hotel in Falmouth, Ma.   I worked as a gas attendant and also cleaned apartments in Norfolk, Va.  I worked at Exxon Credit Card Co in Houston, TX as a microfilm clerk and then I worked in the computer room as an operator.   I was a support clerk at the Healthcare Revenue Management in San Francisco, Ca.   My last job was Record Technician for Immigration and Naturalization in Boston, Ma.    At the present time, I am looking for work here in Huntsville.

My hobbies are growing fuchsia flowers and collecting fuchsia lore.  I love going to antique shops, flea markets, and garage sales.  I also like to travel.

I’m planning on going back to school for the next fall semester.  I have been working on an associate degree.   With all the moving around and working I have been taking courses whenever I got a chance to do it.

I have learned that no matter where you go you can find some people that will do anything for you if you treat them the way you want to be treated.  Then there are people who only want what they can get for themselves and don’t care about anybody else.   Life can be strange and wonderful.   So we should live it to the fullest.

I’m looking forward to this 40th Reunion.  I didn’t know a lot of people from Jones because I transferred there in my Junior year from Jeff Davis.   But I did have a great time with the few friends that I did make while I was there at Jones.  See ya in April.
