Carol Hardin Thornton, August 16, 2002
Hi everyone,
Just a quick note to inform you of what's been happening in and
around
Paradise the past 2 months.
Albert's Dad had Double By-Pass Open Heart Surgery on July 7th,
barely
got him home, and his Mother had Triple By-Pass Open Heart Surgery and a
Valve Replacement August 12th in Tyler, Texas. We have been doing a lot
of
traveling back and forth, plus to Groveton where they live. Mrs. Thornton
is still in critical condition for the next 24 hrs, so we could use your
prayers.
Last week, Klent, Eddie's son came and spent the week with us, and
the
latter part of the week Albert's brother Cloyce also came for a visit.
Just prior to Mr. Thornton's surgery, Debra had come in to town
for the
week-end, when we were called to go to the hospital and only got to visit
with her one night.
In July, I managed to make a quick trip to Houston for Mother's Birthday
and visit for a day or so.
Also we had our shower in the master bedroom completely torn out
and
redone because it had been leaking. What a mess, but thank goodness it's
working now.
Our neighbor, a retired airline pilot was working on his ranch
when the
tractor ran over and killed him. Him and his wife were one of the
couples
that took us under their wing when we first moved here. We are still in
shock, and cannot believe that he is gone. The next day after his funeral
we headed to Lufkin for Mrs. Thornton's last living brother's funeral.
In between all of the goings on, I have been trying to put up
okra, beans
peas and squash in
the freezer.
I'm still having fun watching the cow and her over grown bull
calf, the
horse, rabbits, road runners, humming birds and red and blue birds. It is
still Paradise to me.
All of yall take care and keep in touch when you can.
Love Carol
