Weigelt, Leona Rohde

Funeral services for LEONA ROHDE WEIGELT, 86, will be held Wednesday, April 26, 2006, at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 7901 Westview, Houston, Texas. Rev. Jim Berggren of Holy Cross, and Rev. Mike Rinehart of Grace Lutheran in Conroe will conduct the service. Internment will be at 4:00 p.m. in Florida Chapel Cemetery, Round Top, Texas. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Waltrip Funeral Home, 1415 Campbell Road, Houston, Texas.

Mrs. Weigelt was born May 10, 1919 in Warrenton, Texas to John and Laura Brunken Rohde and passed away April 23, 2006 in Houston. She married Edmund Weigelt at St. John's Lutheran Church in Warrenton and they shared 60 years of marriage before his death in 2002. They lived in Houston for 40 years and were members of Park Place Lutheran Church. They retired to Conroe and were members at Grace Lutheran Church. For the past two years, she has lived in Houston.

During her life, Mrs. Weigelt was an active volunteer in many organizations including Girl Scouts, Little League, Volunteers in Public Schools, WELCA women's groups, AAL, the 60's dance group, and the Golden Age group at Grace Lutheran. She taught Sunday School, was an avid bowler, enjoyed sewing and crafts, and loved to dance. Some of her most cherished times were the family get-togethers with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Mrs.Weigelt was preceded in death by her husband, Edmund Weigelt; her parents; her brother, Elton Rohde; and a brother and sister who died in childhood. She is survived by children: Carolyn and husband Donald Springer of Bellaire, TX; Geraldine (Gerri) and husband Jay Cooper of Houston, TX; Darrell Weigelt and wife Robyn of Seabrook, TX. Grandchildren: Scott Springer of New York, NY; Jeff Springer and wife Denise of Los Angeles, CA; Hollie and husband Tim Grieve of Katy, TX; Kyle Cooper of Houston, TX; Neil Cooper and wife Alyssa of New Braunfels, TX; Dylan Weigelt and Connor Weigelt of Seabrook, TX. Great-grandchildren: Abbie and Emilie Grieve of Katy, TX; Daisy and Josie Springer of Los Angeles, CA. Sister: Elda Wessels of Marion, TX. Brother: Elgin Rohde and wife Bell of Giddings, TX. Also, Mrs. Weigelt is survived by many Rohde and Weigelt family members, nieces, nephews, and numerous friends.

Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, Conroe, Texas or Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Houston, Texas.
