I thought I should put out an email to everyone now - during the business day - even though the team rosters are not quite ready to be published. This is so that you don't panic and think that your form was lost.
Here's the status:
I took my first cut at forming
the teams
yesterday, but I have decided that I need to do a little
more
juggling/rebalancing before I
send out
the list. That will be done tonight, so the team rosters and this
week's
schedule will be sitting in your
in-box
tomorrow morning.
We currently have 64 players registered for the league. This means that there will be 8 teams in the league, not the projected 6. Doing the math, 8 teams = 4 games, so with 4 hours of gym time allocated every team will play a one hour game once a week.
It's getting late, so I will save additional league format details for the next email.
More Later -
Barry
P.S. Below are the general rules we will be using during the league. There are some very slight modifications from last year, so even the Indoor veterans should review them.
------------------------------------------ -----------------------------
The Rules of Indoor:
Rule 0) Except as stipulated below, all of the normal rules of Ultimate apply.
Indoor variants are:
Rule 1) Stall count starts at 6.
Rule 2) Backboards within the field boundaries are in play. The ceiling is not.
Rule 3) Discs that travel out of the back of the end zone are put into play at the back of the end zone.
Rule 4) Dynamic substitutions are allowed.
Rule 5) Make-It/Take-It.
Some clarifications:
Rule 1 details: When starting at
6, the
stall occurs on the first utterance of the word "TEN" - just as
in classic
ultimate.
Rule 2 details: Yes, you can complete a pass off of an in-bounds backboard. The ceiling, on the other hand, is always out of bounds.
Rule 3 details: A turnover that travels out the back (or side) of the end zone must be put in play at the back line (or side line), NOT at the front of the end zone. Note that the out-of-bounds Frisbee may bounce back into the end zone. It is up to the player to recognize that it is an O.B. disc and take it to the back line (side line) before putting the disc into play.
Rule 4 details: When subbing on the fly, the sub must enter the court from the midpoint of the sideline and the exiting player must "tag" the sub as he/she exits.
Rule 5 details: With Make-It/Take-It the goal scorer must pass from the spot of the catch within the goal.
