[ADVOCACY & ACCOUNTABILITY]Through the combined efforts of CCNC, CCNC Foundation, and CCNC’s affiliated Political Action Committee, we are able to undertake a multi-tiered strategy on behalf of clean air, clean water, and North Carolina citizens:

Advocacy

Promoting better environmental rules, laws, and regulations.

In our efforts to protect, preserve, and enhance North Carolina’s environment, CCNC advocates positive changes in environmental laws, policies, and regulations. We enlist the support of activists, CCNC members, concerned citizens, and other environmental organizations to help us prove to North Carolina decision-makers that there is strong public (and constituent) support for clean air and clean water. We work with other environmental organizations, scientists, and lawyers to lobby on behalf of the environment and represent the environment before state agencies and commissions.

Accountability

Making sure our decision-makers are held accountable for their decisions.

Accountability is the backstop for advocacy work. It means electing people that care about our issues. We hold legislators to their word when they say they support environmental protection by releasing a "Scorecard" each legislative session that identifies key environmental votes and how each member of the General Assembly fared when voting. Through CCNC’s Conservation PAC, we endorse candidates and get directly involved in elections.
