Q. What do you consider disabilities?
A. Disabilities are medical or behavioral conditions that are diagnosed by a health professional and pose a limitation on a child or challenge to the persons responsible for the child's care.
Q. How does CAMP determine whether or not to accept a child with disabilities?
A. While CAMP has specialized in accepting children with conditions that many other special needs camps are reluctant to accept, CAMP's decision to accept is based on the presenting medical or behavioral condition and CAMP's ability to assure adequate counseling and health staffs to handle the condition.
Q. Who will take care of my child?
A. Your child will be assigned a counselor who has attended a week of specialized training in the care of children with special needs. Additionally, on-site medical staff is available for all medical needs. Q. Who will take care of my child's medical needs?
A. CAMP has a full time nurse on duty. Additionally, CAMP has an extensive volunteer health care staff that includes a Medical Director, physicians who specialize in various pediatric fields, registered nurses, therapists, and pharmacists.
Q. When is payment due?
A. Payment is due at the time the application is submitted. The application will not be processed until the payment is received. Q. What if I have agency funding? A. To use agency funding, CAMP needs a letter from the case manager stating that the agency will be responsible for payment. We need an agency contact name, phone number and billing address included in the letter. Q If one of my children receives agency funding and another one does not, what do I pay?
A. Children receiving agency funding are charged full price. Other siblings without funding may use the sliding fee scale based on their family income.
Q. What are CAMPerships, and how do we apply for one?
A. CAMPerships are given to campers based on the family income by means of the Sliding Fee Scale.

A. Bring the medication in its original bottle with the prescription attached.
Q. Can parents stay and volunteer when kids are there?
A. Parents serving as health staff or kitchen staff occasionally stay on camp grounds, but these are the exceptions. Q. Can I visit my child at CAMP?
A. CAMP policies and the American Camp Association strongly discourage parental visits. You can telephone the Camp Nurse or leave a phone message for your child's counselor for questions and concerns.
Q. What do I need to send with my child?
A. Two weeks prior to your scheduled session you will be sent a confirmation packet with a packing list. If your child is on a special diet or uses additional sources of nutrition (like Ensure) please send 6 days of food. Campers will need to bring their own special equipment such as wheelchairs, cPaP, ventilators, communications devices, and prescription medications if applicable. Please do not send unnecessary items of great value, such as money, expensive cameras, or entertainment electronics. This is a summer camp and despite efforts to keep track of belongings, constant movement between activities does result in lost and broken items.
Q. Do I need to send money with my child?
A. No, since Camp provides all foods and snacks. On Sundays and Fridays around check-in and check-out times, CAMP logo gifts can be bought at the Camp Store near the Infirmary.
Q. How does my child's counselor prepare to provide safe and informed care for my child?
A. Counselors receive a week of intense training that includes proper medical care, behavioral management, and safety procedures. Information you provide as part of your application form (Care Form) provides a wealth of information, so please be as detailed as you like. During check-in, please answer all questions completely and volunteer additional information to the counselor, supervisors, and health staff.
Q. May I phone to check on my child?
A. You are welcome to inquire. The Camp Office phone number is provided in your confirmation packet and you are welcome to call. Your camper's counselor's supervisor (called the Chief Cabin Counselor or CCC) checks messages throughout the day and will return your call as soon as possible.
Q. Will my child be able to do the activities?
A. Yes, the activities are designed to be easily adapted so that every child can participate.
