Hey folks! sorry i've been gone for so long.. i haven't left this page. i've
been busy as usual (work, new house, etc...). anyway, thanks to all of you
for your support for the page even when the updates didn't happen. there
should be fixes on the way for lots of problems, and a new look for the page
is on it's way... BUT, more importantly, with summer coming up really soon
and requests for cars & parts increasing, the TRADING
POST is BACK UP! it's got a new look and feel, let me know what you think
about it... so, enjoy the trading post, and keep posted for updates in the
near future!
October 28, 1996
Well, welcome back everyone, the Trading Post
area has been quick fixed. What this means is that the ads are all back
that were there. BUT (isn't there always a but?), the ads are in plain text
format, and i'm still not accepting new ads. In a few days, there will be a
new version of the Trading Post that uses frames and tables. If you can't
views frames and tables, let me know.
Also, in the next month, look for a threaded posting area where you can have discussions with other KG owners out there! Bye for now

The Trading Post file disappeared for some reason. Looks like there was a
problem that killed the whole file. I have a back up log that I can use to
reconstruct the file, so look for the file sometime this weekend to be
restored. The Trading Post is so popular, that i think the number of ads
in the file might have been the culprit, so you may also see a slightly new
format for the trading post this weekend... Thanks for your patience, and
thanks to everyone who pointed the problem out to me so quickly!
July 31, 1996
The new Trading Post area is now open!
Everything is no automated, so no more need to wait for met o put all the
entries in. The old ads and ads submitted before July 31, 1996 are all
archived away. Unless there is great interest in seeing those ads again,
they will stay put away. If you have something that was in those ads, jsut
repost the ad again to the new area! Try it out and take a look. And as
always, email me with any suggestions you feel may make the place better for
your stay...

Well, this update should have gone out sooner, but there were some upgrades
done to the server which these pages reside on. So, you should be seeing
some faster accesses now to the pages with
DRIS's new upgraded server. Anyway, some news for you all... I have
sold my Karmann Ghia :( It was a sad moment, but I think i found it a good
home, someone who can take care of it since i have recently been neglecting
it. Anyway, don't worry about these pages... I am not going to forget
about all of you here. In fact, the only reason i sold my car was because I
haven't been able to give it the attention it really needs. Plus, I am now
in the market for a convertible. I thought I originally wanted a coupe so i
could drive it year round, but i found that wasn't the case, so I'm looking
for a 'vert now (anyone know of a good one out there? let me know!)
With that in mind, let's get on to the goodies. New this week is Bart Androski's KG Profile. Check it out. It's quite nice. The long awaited VIN list is still being compiled. I keep getting more and more everyday, so it should be up by tomorrow. Also, keep those signatures to the Guest Book coming in... BTW, please don't send any new items to the Trading Post area... I want to finish up this automated system before any new updates are made there. Thanks... and enjoy!
April 2, 1996
Hello all you Karmann Ghia lovers out there! I know, I know... long time to
hear from me. Well, as usual, I've had other priorities that i had to take
care of here in the real world. Anyway, i wanted to commit myself more to
the Karmann Ghia World pages, so i'm going to make a promise to everyone that
I'm going to try and keep... Every week, there will be something new here
on the pages. REALLY...
I've been bombarded with lots of nice profiles of Ghias out there. So, at a minimum, you should be seeing a new profile every week. Problem I have is that I'm not getting too many pictures of anyone's Ghia (come on, don't tell me you don't want to flaunt any photos of your car). Needless to say, since the web is such a visual thing, Ghia profiles with photos will most likely be chosen. Also, the long awaited VIN list of all the Karmann Ghia owners will be available before April 8, 1996 (this is a promise!).
Many of you might have been wondering why the Karmann Ghia World Ad site has not been updated lately. Well, I'm in the process of automating that whole area and the script isn't quite ready yet. I'd like some input here. I've been pondering using fancy tables and frames to do this job, but I'm not quite sure how everyone feels about those things. Not everyone can see tables and frames... I've tried to keep the KG World pages friendly for non-Netscape browsers in the past because this site is not really about me showing off all these nifty HTML tricks but rather a place where everyone can get some useful Karmann Ghia information.
With that in mind, I draw you attention to the newest item here, The KG World Guest Book. This book will serve two uses at first. Use number one is to get to hear from all of you so you can leave your mark here. Use number two is to get some suggestions from all of you. I get lots of people asking for updates to the pages, but what kind of updates would you like to see? How do you feel about the possibility of KG World using more Netscape only features? Do you have any suggestions for new areas on the KG World pages? Please give some constructive comments if you feel. This will go in effect as a test to see how well it works, and as usual, will get changed as need be. So, to add yourself to the KG World Guest Book today!
Well, with that, I'm off to prepare some things for the promises I have to keep. Remember, the Karmann Ghia World pages can only get better with your help - accept no imitations or anything less!
Oct 1996
Well, well, well.... Welcome back to Karmman Ghia World. Sorry this site
hasn't been available, but the original server it was on was down for a good
2 1/2 weeks! Seeing that thre were so many problems with the server, I
figured it was time to move it somewhere more reliable. Well, just so
happens that our friends over at D.R.I.S.
were nice enough to offer some space for this home page. They provide lots
of great services and great prices. If you are looking for some
internet access and other things, this is the place to look!
Okay, well, I didn't quite get this page as updated as I wanted to, but there were quite a few people who were bugging me to put the page back up. I have to say that I was a bit overwelmed at the number of folks who wanted to get at the page. So, the updates are just going to have to come little by little (yeah, I know, I always say that). Some one the important adds for far are two forms that will help get you more involved in the page. One page has a Ghia Profile Form, so it's easier now to add your profile to the otheres already here on the page. The other page has a KG VIN form. This form will be give me data that I will compile and publish to show as many Ghias as possible that are out there.
Two bigs things have happened to the page since it went down... Number one,
Volkswagen has approved this page! So, this
page is here to stay and VW will soon link itself up to this page. Pretty
exciting, huh? Well, the other thing that happen is that this page might
actually get into a CD-ROM browser that shows some snap shots of the
page/and or a link to the page. That is waiting to be seened, but still a
bit of excitment none-the-less.
Well, enough of my blabbering... As always, I'd love to hear from you! Send me some Email and tell me what you think.
Well, here's the place where you can see & read about Ghias that are being restored by different people. Hopefully the list will grow with time. Getting your Ghia profile on here is not that hard, so read below to find out.
