Doug's Step Switch - Video

Below is a link to an AVI video file of my step switch in operation.  Since it was shot with a web cam, the quality is not to broadcast standard by any means, and the audio was only what could be picked up with the built in mike in my laptop, so you have to turn up the volume.  However, it gives a little idea of the look & feel of the switch in operation.

What you will hear & see in the video is the calling line going off hook, the line finder is out of the frame in this video so you will only hear it.  Then, the first digit, a five in this case, is dialed on the first selector at the right side of the frame.  Then the last two digits, two twos, are completed in the connector at the left.  The line then rings in on one of the pickup keys of the 1A2 Allentel frame phone under the switches at the bottom of the screen.  I reach over and press the ringing key, go off hook on the phone, and then hangup the frame phone and the calling line and the switches reset.

Please note that the AVI file is a little over 17 MEGAbytes in size, so this strictly for my readers on broadband -- unless you have remarkable patience to download a file this size on dial-up.  Also, since this file is being hosted in some borrowed space, I would ask that rather than clicking and viewing the file directly from here each time if you anticipate wanting to keep it and view it several times that you do a right-click "Save target as" and save it directly to your computer.  I don't want the monthly byte transfer total to get too high on the borrowed site.
