"The left is full of hate; that's what drives it," David Horowitz, speaking about the rash of attacks on conservative speakers on college campuses, told NewsMax.com,
The hatred is not limited to academia - it is driving the leftist-dominated Democrat party as well.
What else can explain that party's distribution of a fake mug shot of House Majority Leader Tom DeLay. It shows a photo, featuring a smiling DeLay behind the words "Case File," includes the superimposed number "18821" as if the House Majority Leader had been arrested and charged with a crime.
As NewsMax.com has reported, attached to the bogus photo, posted to the DNC's web site, is a headline: "Scandal Man: A Guide to the Ethics Violations, Abuses of Power and Corruption of House Majority Leader Tom DeLay."
This despite the fact that DeLay has not been charged, let alone arrested, in connection with any of the allegations being tossed around by Democrats and their allies in the media - and has never been implicated in any criminal activity whatsoever.
TV ads now running in selected congressional districts declare: "Tom DeLay: He’d like to wash his hands of corruption. …," a voice intones, while a man wearing cuff links and a Rolex watch scrubs his hands. "He can’t wash his hands of corruption. But Congress can certainly wash its hands of Tom DeLay."
According to Richard Poe writing in Front Page magazine, "This 30-second television ad began running in selected Congressional districts on Thursday, March 31 — only the latest in a long series of media smears targeting DeLay.
"Over a five-day span, ending last Thursday, TV and radio stations and print publications from around the country featured at least 290 stories" discussing ethics allegations against DeLay, reports Alexander Bolton in the March 23 edition of The Hill."
All of this is being driven by the Marxist left now in full control of the Democrat Party. In the November 29, 2004 issue of the Marxist journal The Nation, Robert L. Borosage and Nation editor Katrina Vanden Heuvel let the cat out of the bag. "[P]rogressives drive this party now - we provide the energy, the organizers, the ground forces, the ideas, and much of the money. We should organize the opposition [against Republicans]. Progressives should mount a powerful assault on Republican boss Tom DeLay."
They used to call themselves liberals but now shy away from that description, preferring to be known as "progressives" a code word members of the U.S. Communist underground once used to identify themselves to each other. They are Marxist to the core, and they are in full control of the Democrat Party.
These people seethe with unrestrained hatred which they are now unleashing on the Bush administration, on the GOP controlled Congress and even on conservative speakers who dare to invade their sacred precincts of academia. No one expressing traditional American values is safe from their venom.
The haters are well-financed. Behind many of the front groups that mimic the old Communist front movement when the Moscow-directed Communist Party used sometimes innocent dupes to promote the Kremlin's causes are some of the world's wealthiest people, notably the militant atheist and one-worlder George Soros whose seething hatred of conservatives and the GOP led him to spend millions in a failed effort to defeat George Bush in 2004.
Soros is pouring money into such front groups as the Center for Public Integrity; Common Cause; Democracy 21; Public Campaign and Public Citizen, Poe reported.
Wrote Poe: "... the TV ad campaign cited above is sponsored by two groups, both heavily funded by Soros. One, the Campaign for America’s Future (CAF), has received more than $300,000 from Soros' Open Society Institute. The other group, the Public Campaign Action Fund, is a spin-off from the Soros-funded Public Campaign.
"In fact, most of the public-interest "watchdogs" currently hounding DeLay are beneficiaries of Soros largesse. All of the groups named have received large contributions from Soros’ Open Society Institute, ranging in size from hundreds of thousands to more than a million, in some cases."
As NewsMax.com's savvy Wes Vernon has reported, the same Robert Borosage who co-wrote that Nation piece bragging about how progressives [read Marxists] now run the Democrat Party is Co-Director of the Soros financed Campaign for America's Future.
Tom DeLay is under attack solely because he is one of the most effective crusaders for conservative Republicanism and not because the progressives abhor the alleged ethical lapses of which many Democrat members of Congress are guilty. And he is not alone. As I write this, one of the nation's strongest and most effective defenders of America's sovereignty, John Bolton, is being subject to progressive brutality at the hands of such Senate progressives as the odious Barbara Boxer.
Bolton is anathema to George Soros, who makes no bones about the fact that he wants a world government that would ride roughshod over American sovereignty, and Bolton stands like Horatio at the bridge, holding it against the assaults of the globalist barbarians.
It is becoming clear that anyone - anyone at all - who is effective in opposing the Marxist one-world movement will get the Soros treatment. That includes President Bush's nominees to the federal bench who will be excoriated by the progressives who will use every effort including smears and slanders to block their confirmations as they did with Judge Bork and tried to do with Clarence Thomas and many others.
The left is determined to turn the United States into a Marxist nation, something they can never achieve as long as the Republican's control the White House and the Congress and stand poised reform an out-of-control federal judiciary. They will do anything to regain control of both the executive and legislative branches of the government.
They are haters, and their hatred arises out of their belief that it is their right and their destiny to be in control of this government. They regard conservatives and the GOP as usurpers who in the name of their Marxist deity must be driven out at all costs. They will stop at nothing, not at lying, not at slander, not at subterfuge, to attain their goals.
They won't win. Hatred is no substitute for policy, and their only policy is an unbridled lust for power. In his stunningly brilliant encyclical Centissimo Annus*, Pope John Paul II wrote about that Marxist lust for power: "When people think they possess the secret of a perfect social organization which makes evil impossible, they also think that they can use any means, including violence and deceit, in order to bring that organization into being. Politics then becomes a 'secular religion' which operates under the illusion of creating paradise in this world."
Referring to hatred as "alienation," he wrote that "the historical experience of socialist countries has sadly demonstrated that collectivism does not do away with alienation but rather increases it, adding to it a lack of basic necessities and economic inefficiency."
The American people know that; the progressives don't. So all they are left with is their hate - and their unfulfilled lust for power.
