DAY 1: June 14
Bennington, Vt. to Sleep Inn & Suites, Hagerstown, Md. A group led by Gary Brierton, vice president of club support for AHCA, will begin in Bennington, headquarters of Hemmings Motor News and Hemmings Sports & Exotic Cars magazines. The Austin-Healey Club of New England will coordinate the kick-off event for the cross-country adventure. Brierton and his fellow travelers will travel almost 400 miles the first day to Hagerstown, Md., for an evening gathering and car show with the Capital Area Austin-Healey Club.
DAY 2: June 15
Hagerstown to Lexington, N.C. Brierton and his “posse” will drive 365 miles to Lexington, N.C., for an event with the Triad and Carolina Austin-Healey Clubs in Charlotte Monday, June 16.
DAY 3: June 18
Lexington to the Sleep Inn, London, Ky. Carl Brown, AHCA president, and other AHCA members will join Brierton on the continuation of the cross-country journey. The evening of June 18 will find them in London, Ky., for a get-together with members of Tennessee’s Austin-Healey clubs.
DAY 4: June 19
London, Ky. to Comfort Suites, Vincennes, Ind. Luncheon rendezvous with the Bluegrass Club near Louisville, Ky. Travel to Vincennes, Ind., for an evening event with regional members from southern Illinois, Indiana & Ohio. A group led by Greg Lauser, AHCA vice president for public relations, will depart the greater Twin Cities area of Minneapolis-St. Paul bound for an evening rendezvous with members of the Midwest AHC in Savanna, Ill.
DAY 5: June 20
Drive to and spend the night near St. Louis, Mo., to the Comfort Inn Near Six Flags, Pacific, Mo. There, they’ll be joined by other club members by who have traveled from Wisconsin, Minnesota and Illinois to become part of the caravan. The Gateway Austin-Healey Club will coordinate the evening’s activities and fundraising fun.
DAY 6: June 21
It’s on to the Comfort Inn, Bolivar, Mo., for an evening event hosted by club members from Springfield, Mo., and the Kansas City Austin-Healey Club.
DAY 7: June 22
The next segment of the journey finds the group driving to the Comfort Inn South, Wichita, Kan., for camaraderie with Nebraska, Kansas and Oklahoma club members.
DAY 8: June 23
Brierton, Brown, Lauser and company will continue to the Comfort Inn & Suites, Guymon, Okla., to link-up with club members from Texas and Oklahoma for an impromptu car show and/or dinner gathering.
DAY 9: June 24
The group hits the road to the Comfort Inn Midtown, Albuquerque, N.M., for an evening gathering with the Roadrunner Austin-Healey Club of that state.
DAY 10: June 25
After a 320-mile travel day, the evening of June 23 will be spent in the Sleep Inn, Flagstaff, Ariz.
DAY 11: June 26
The following day will take them through Seligman to Kingman and onto Oatman via historic Route 66 before hightailing it down Arizona 95 to overnight in the Quality Inn & Suites, Lake Havasu.
DAY 12: June 27
Austin-Healey drivers will make their final push of 325 miles to their destination: the San Diego Sheraton Hotel & Marina on Harbor Island.
June 28-July 4
Then, the fun really begins with activities in and around San Diego through July 4 at the Austin Healey Club of America Conclave, the largest annual gathering in the world of Austin-Healey owners and their cars.
